Welcome to today's Joyful Hearts moment as I ponder what a blessing it is to travel for creative inspiration. Have you experienced that joy lately? If so, I'd love to hear about your destination and resulting creative spark in the comments below.
Over the past two weeks, my hubby and I have been traveling during my spring break from teaching. (Sorry for the blog hiatus, but I'll try to prove that it was worth the brain break!) Where did we go, you ask? We began in Rome for four days, traipsed across the Cinque Terre, explored Lucca, and soaked in some art in Florence.
To ponder the history alone is inspirational, but to think of the careful preservation strategies that made it possible for me to see it all in person (rather than in pictures or history books). If you're wondering whether or not my eyes lit up as they met each new scene, stop it. The weather was a gorgeous, clear 60 degrees, and each travel memory that took up residence in my brain was mind-blowing.
And isn't that why it's so important for people to travel - especially if you're seeking a creative spark? The knowledge we acquire through learning and observation, together with our working memories, serves as the fuel for our imaginations. Limited travel experiences, limited imaginative scope.
If you're longing to travel and haven't had the opportunity, allow me to share some pictures from our travels in the gallery below. Until next time, see if you can create some adventures of your own!
